Checks and Balances — 418 view(s) |
Over the past few years, the ban process on Imperfect Gamers has been adjusted accordingly to better suit the interests of the players. Quote:I've had several questions about how harsh you should be on people for various reasons. To answer this, it should be up to you. My only advice on this would be, that if it's intentionally something malicious, that deserves a more severe punishment. We do have the rule about the hard r being an instant ban, however the time of ban often depends on the context, hence the point about maliciousness. If you are unsure about how harsh you should be to any situation, don't be shy to ask. 10/16/2017 The staff onboarding process dwells heavily on the bans Quote:@Moderator First of all welcome to everyone that's new. I just want to give a few reminders. If you ban someone, it might not show in chat. The ban went through if no error message shows up. Other players should be able to see the ban. Also, if you are unfamiliar with the commands, we have a google docs sheet with all the commands on it, plus some more stuff. If you need that sheet, contact me or Jumpman. Finally, remember that punishment should be decided by you. Obviously make sure whatever you do is justifiable, because we do keep a watch. If we feel you are not giving punishment, or giving it beyond reason, you will be notified. With that being said, hard R should always be a ban. Really shouldn't ever be less than a week, unless the circumstance calls for it. Anyways thanks for listening, us admins and Jumpman are always here to help out. If you need anything, let us know! 10/30/2017 Aug 9, 2017, due to an increasingly overwhelming number of ban-appeals on the discord it was then decided to move these applications somewhere more publicly accessible such as in the Steam group discussion. Imperfect Gamers Staff Guide Redux (2017) Page 18 states the following:

Quote:If other staff members have an opinion they should voice them. Also @Jumpman just to clarify, I dont believe this is us all "attacking" -redacted-. This is the staff coming together to voice their side of the story and come to a general concensus. Just looking at the facts on treating everyone equally: If someone else came into the server, not as well known to the community and without such a large voice, that was on a 2nd repeat offense for what he/she was banned for last time we would not have much grace. We shouldn't back down on the ban. I would say keep it two months again and see if he can learn this lesson. 01/11/2018 09/23/2019 It was found that a certain staff member was failing to list reasons for users to understand the golden question, "Why was I banned". It was approached by a higher level by this. Quote:i love you, you've been around forever but we must be more specific with how we delegate our bans especially with how much Imperfect Gamers has grown since the old days. We want to represent our bans with a little more etiquette for others (not just the banned players), so confidence and trust is lost in ability to appealing. Jun 2, 2019 @ 6:51pm Applications were switched over to the Imperfect Gamers Forum for more ease of access and control. 7/27/2020, staff members of Imperfect Gamers started to speak up on behalf of the players and it was apparent that we needed to refine our ban process yet again. This was the Player Representation initiative. |
